The press has Tiger mania about Tiger mania. They’re all going crazy about Tiger playing in Australia, and his $3 million appearance fee. The course, Kingston Heath measures out at 6923 yards (I had to convert it from meters), which is pretty short for PGA Tour players and the scores reflect it. Tiger sits at -10 (66, 68) after two rounds and has a three shot lead currently. I’ll try to wind the DVR up and watch a bit this weekend…
Good news for Tiger addicts, he’s playing this week in Shanghai at the WGC HSBC Champions, Sheshan International golf course. Phil Mickelson and many other bigs will be there too. So late in the season (snow has flown here already but melted) we can watch some good golf on TV this week.
HSBC Champions Television Coverage is on The Golf Channel:

Tiger Woods has won the points based 2009 PGA of America player of the Year award. He’s also won the Vardon Trophy and the Byron Nelson Award for having the lowest scoring average of 68.05.
The PGA Tour Player of the Year award has yet to be announced. That one is determined by the players’ votes. Hard to not pick Tiger for that award, though I’d like to see Steve Stricker as the recipient.
I stumbled across this headline at CNN.com saying Tiger isn’t a billionaire.
Reporter: “This last week, it was announced you hit the billionaire status. What’s that like to learn?”
Tiger Woods: [Laughs] “Well, one, I haven’t, so I don’t know where that number came from.”
So maybe he’s not a billionaire, this week. He’s probably at $999,999,999.33 right now.
Alternate title: “Dear Dad: Why didn’t you start me out golfing sooner?”
Winning the $10 million FedEx Cup dough last week put Tiger Woods over the $1 billion mark in career earnings according to Forbes.
Man I wish I was “son of a black man and a Thai woman” as Robin Williams says….and married to a blonde Swedish model with a twin sister. I digress… Okay, back to reality…
