Man, I decided to go golfing yesterday and DVR the TPC Sawgrass final round. I should have known I shouldn’t have been there when they paired me up with a male and female who were not only both 30+ handicappers, they were both left handed. Needless to say it was a long and frustrating day on the course. Little did I know I’d miss a ton of fireworks from the TPC. Tiger withdrew. Lee Westwood gave away another tournament, and…
Hot blond announcer Win McMurry of Golf Channel had possibly one of, if not the best Freudian slips of all time when she was taking about Tiger Woods’ withdrawal from the Players Championship due to neck pain.
“[Woods] says he’s been playing with a bad neck for about a month and thinks it could be a bulging dick.”
She quickly caught her slip and clarified that it was a bulging “disk” in his neck, not a bulging part of the male anatomy… Too late. The cat is out of the bag.
That’s a big “DOH!”
Steve Mata, a former Titleist rep, had a set of Tiger Woods’ irons on ebay. They were allegedly the ones Woods used when he won all four majors in a row. Those irons were for sale at $250,000.
I was just about to click “buy it now” and PayPal Mr. Mata the $250k but then I heard that Tiger made a statement about the irons:
“He may have my set of irons, but they’re not from those tournaments. They’re in my garage.” ~Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods sits at +5 on the 13th hole at Quail Hollow. He’s +3 today and not looking “Tiger like.” Unless he makes a bunch of birdies, he’ll be heading home tonight and missing the cut, the first in a regular season non-major since 2005.
Stats
Tiger has hit 1/4 of his fairways, 50% of his greens in regulation and had 10 bogeys or worse. That adds up to a missed cut.
My Aunt back east is a NUT (in a good way).
She sent me this very funny tea party sign.
Actually I quite agree with it.
6:55pm ET: Phil Mickelson wins his 3rd green jacket after an exclamation point birdie on the last hole. What an incredible week it has been for me in particular, as I was on the grounds at Augusta National for the first time. What a tournament. What a place. And I’m spent.
Good news: only 361 days left until the 2011 Masters.
6:40pm: Westwood makes birdie on #17 but Phil handles the pressure making a par putt from about six feet. Two shot lead with the final hole to play. It ain’t over yet. Woods finishes with a 69 after making birdie on the final hole. Strangely, he and Choi played together for four straight days and shot the exact same scores all four days.
