Just before hitting the road for home today I watched a bit of the Tiger Woods presser on Golf Channel, from Doral and the WGC Cadillac Championship.
I wonder how long some of the scribes work on their questions or even think about what they are saying sometimes. For instance, this great one today:
Scribe
“Tiger, are you on track for the Masters?”
Woods
“Absolutely.”
Um, what answer would one suspect Tiger would give? Here’s an alternative:
Scribe
“Tiger, are you on track for the Masters?”
Woods
“Actually I’m glad you asked. I have no confidence in my game at all, especially after shooting a 62 in last Sunday’s final round. I’m announcing today that rather than embarrassing myself at Augusta, I’ve decided to decline my invitation to the Masters..”
Set your DVR. The PGA Tour’s Honda Classic TV schedule is below. Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood, Rory McIlory, Graeme McDowell, Charl Schwartzel, Ernie Els and many other big Tour players are in action.
Think Tiger has his blocked putting figured out? He said it would take one day…

Today Tiger Woods added a new stop to his 2012 schedule, the Honda Classic at PGA National Resort & Spa Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This venue is practically in Tiger’s back yard.
“I’ve heard great things about the Honda Classic, and now that I live here, I want to play whenever possible. Jack’s [Nicklaus] involvement in the tournament and the benefits to the local community are also important.”~Tiger Woods
Press credentials for the Honda just quadrupled…
AP writer Doug Ferguson posted about 20 hours ago the news of a new book soon to hit the shelves by Tiger Woods’s former coach Hank Haney. The book will be titled The Big Miss and will chronicle the six years that Haney spent coaching Tiger Woods from 2004-2010. During that period of time many things happened in Tiger’s world, from winning 29 times (6 majors), getting married, having children, his father’s death, the sex scandal, the divorce, the return.
It will be interesting to see what Haney actually writes about and what he doesn’t. Apparently Haney was one of the few close to Tiger who didn’t sign a nondisclosure agreement.
The book is scheduled to be published on March 27th, 2012. I’ll try to get my hands on an evaluation copy as soon as they’re available to the press and post a review.
Time for a media frenzy to ensue… Tiger Woods announced via his web site that he will make his 2012 PGA Tour debut at the AT&T in Pebble Beach. This is an interesting tournament for Tiger’s “added” 2012 event, since it is a pro-am format for the first portion. I suspect the pro-am format hasn’t been one of Tiger’s favorites, but from a PR standpoint it could help him out to play some golf with a famous personality. I just hope it isn’t George Lopez or I won’t be able to watch at all. The current rumor mill has Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo as Tiger’s partner.
