Word is out that Davis Love III will be the captain of the 2012 Ryder Cup team. This is unofficial and won’t technically be announced until next year however.
Let the rain gear questions for DLIII begin.
I hadn’t posted this photo because I thought it was fake, but apparently it isn’t. Photographer “Mark Pain” (quite the pun, considering this situation) snapped this image right before a Tiger Woods’ chip shot hit him in the chest and fell to the ground. So was Tiger that far off or did the photographer get in the way of the shot? And nobody has mentioned whether or not Tiger’s caddy Steve Williams smashed the photographer’s camera…
Update: There’s a guy on the right with a mustache and a cigar. This guy has been photoshopped into hundreds of photos all over the net. “Cigar Guy” has become quite a rage…. Read the next post.
Despite a huge USA comeback to tie it going into the final match, the European team pulled off the win in the Ryder Cup. Very exciting finish. It ended on the last match, 17th hole when Hunter Mahan conceded the hole to give Graeme McDowell a 2-1 win.
As I predicted, Europe wins. I just hope my golf buddy who told me he was going to bet $1000 on Europe actually did.
Below are the pairings for the Monday Ryder Cup singles matches. USA captain Corey Pavin knows he’s got to score a lot of points early and fast, so he’s front-loaded his lineup. Today’s Ryder Cup was very exciting. The European team came into today with leads in all the matches. Then the USA came back, but didn’t get over the hump. All the USA team was able to win today was 1/2 point in the last match, only after they lost the 18th hole to halve the match.
In short, the European team kicked the USA Team’s ass today. They scored 5.5 points to the USA team’s .5 points.
So the USA team goes into tomorrow with a large deficit on European soil, where they don’t fare well. It is looking good for Europe. The good news for the USA, is that their strength is singles matches.
