I met with Titleist this weekend and had a talk with my buddy Michael who is the Director of Golf Ball Product Management. Wow, quite a title to have when you are at Titleist.
Michael and I talked about the new and big changes for 2011 in both the ProV1 and ProV1x series. Both golf balls feature different dimple patterns with the ProV1 being reduced from 392 dimples to 352. The “X” was reduced from 332 to 328 dimples. There’s more about these new balls, so just enjoy the video interview below.
Back in 2007 I interviewed my buddy Jeremiah from Frogger Golf at the PGA Show. That was one of the first “POV” (point of view) interviews I did and people seem to like the format, as casual and non Francis Ford Coppola-esque as it is.
This weekend at the 2011 PGA Show I made a nostalgic trip back to visit Frogger’s booth and check out the new offerings they have for the upcoming season. What are they? Let’s just say that if I wanted to hire anyone to reinvent the wheel for me, it would be Jeremiah.
Also new from Frogger is Frogger Blogger. They’ve jumped on the blogwagon and are pumping out some nice stuff. Check it out.
It is tough for me to get much done with my bad shoulder and one arm here at the show. But as I get by a computer and find a connection and some time to work, I’ll be uploading media.
Below is an interview I did with my pal Gary from TaylorMade on the new white R11 and Burner Superfast 2.0 Drivers. Gary takes us through all the cool features and explains in great detail the concepts behind them.
Today is yet another day on the HOG World Tour (new category just created by the way). Homey (my world travel companion) and I just finishing packing and will be heading off to the airport shortly to catch a flight on Southwest to Orlando, Florida. The PGA Show awaits.
Once again, use the site contact form to send me a note if you’d like to meet at the show!
I will be Tweeting and Facebooking the little things during my journey and at the show, so be sure to check out out the HOG Twitter page, the Tony Korologos & TGS Twitter page and my Facebook page for stuff which may note find its way here. It is a golf social media smorgasbord. Chow down.
The Golf Space and sister web site Hooked On Golf Blog will be attending this year’s PGA Merchandise Show as registered media. I’ll be walking the floor, interviewing people, shooting millions of images of golf gear, capturing video interviews, talking to golf industry professionals, reporting anything newsworthy and broadcasting it live from the show media center.
Meet Me
I’ll be walking the floor Thursday & Friday (possibly Saturday, now that I can’t golf due to an injury). If you have a booth and would like me to stop by, contact me via email, the HOG contact page, private TGS mail, or any of the millions of other easy ways (facebook, twitter, TGS forums, comments) to get a message to me. I’ll add you to my list of booths to visit.
If you are simply walking the show and want to say hello, I’m up for it as well!
PGA Show Event Page
I’ve created a new event page for those attending the show at The Golf Space as well as on my Facebook page. Go to the TGS PGA Show event page and RSVP. By the way, the event section is one of the cool new features implemented at The Golf Space, and like everything else is made just for golf and free of charge!
New This Year
I’m doing some things differently this year. I’ve only set up scheduled appointments with the big boys like Bridgestone, Titleist, Taylormade and Nike. The rest of my appointments will be on the fly, as in years past it seems the schedule is very hard to keep for various reasons.
If I do visit your booth this year, I’ll probably take some pictures and perhaps even do a video interview. It is very casual so don’t get too nervous when I put you on camera.
I will not be collecting any paper or printed promotional materials/catalogs other than business cards this year. Every year it seems that I bring home about 100 pounds of paper and never look at it. After six months I throw it away. If I need information, images or specs about products I’ll get it online. I will be accepting digital forms of media such as flash discs or CD/DVD. I just can’t carry the paper anymore.
Virtual Show Tour in HD
I have a new toy, a GoPro HD video camera. I’m going to mount it to my head and do some virtual tours of the booths and of the show itself. Just wait until you see how cool this will be!
Let Me Know Your Interests
If you have interests about golf products or companies at the show, let me know. I’ll do my best to check them out and post back about them for you.
