Here’s a first look at the cool Nike Air Rate Golf Shoes, recently submitted to the HOG Lab review queue. I’ll be putting these babies to the test and posting a review soon. Stay tuned.
I’m not sure how many times I’ve said this and I’m sure this won’t be the last. Being a golf blogger doesn’t suck. Case in point, I have the tough job of playing golf and reviewing the Nike SQ MACHSPEED Black (round) driver. Boy this is a tough gig. Where’s the complaint department?
SQ MACHSPEED Black Round Driver Overview
The term MACHSPEED comes from the optimal aerodynamics and light weight of this driver. Those qualities allow the driver to achieve higher swing speeds with equal or less effort from the player.

Last month (November 2010) Nike released the new Nike Sport Cart Bag. I’ve had one in play now for a couple of months and I’ve enjoyed using it. I can be quite a critic of golf bags because there’s not a piece of gear which gets used and abused as much as the bag itself. If they’re poorly made or designed in a way which makes golfing harder rather than easier, that bag is going the way of the junk pile.
Sport Cart Bag Overview
This bag is designed for golfers who prefer to use some mode of wheeled transportation for themselves and/or their bags on the golf course. Those modes may include push carts, pull carts or riding carts.
The top of the bag is designed in such a way that the clubs organize well in two directions, making club access easy for vertically mounted orientation or slanted mounts like those on push/pull carts (trolleys in the UK, aye?).
It has taken a long time, but there may finally be a replacement to my old driver which has been in my bag for a good seven years. Thanks to my pals at Nike, I’m now testing out a new SQ Machspeed Black driver. My first range session with this thing was stellar. I’ve logged four rounds with it now. My review will be coming soon.
Nike has just released a video about the Machspeed. I receive press releases and videos from golf companies all the time and I can’t possibly post them all. That would be a full time job. But since I’m about to do my review on this particular driver I’m posting this one as a teaser in hopes you come back and check out my review.
In this video I like how Paul Casey’s accent makes it sounds like he’s saying Nike “Mack” Speed.
YouTube videos on my home page can slow my site down, so click read more if you can’t see the video below.
I’m watching the first round of the Players Championship at the famous TPC Sawgrass Stadium course today. I’m half in and out of golf consciousness when I thought I saw a golfer wearing a little lady’s black backpack with thin straps. You know, the kind you see in a New York department store or something.
The player was Francesco Molinari and I swear it looked like he was wearing a backpack. We’ll call this shirt the “Nike Backpack Shirt.”
Some of today’s shirt designs are cool. Some work. This one? Not so much.
