Ever try compression socks? They’re quite amazing. Somehow the compression of the sock helps circulation, reduces muscle fatigue, and helps prevent bone aches.
Today was my first round testing out some new compression socks from Swiftwick. I was wearing the Vibe model (pictured right above and pictured below), an ankle high compression sock. In the heat of 96 degrees my feet felt very comfortable and dry today.
Full review of the Vibes coming after I’ve had a chance to test them for a few more rounds.
Following yesterday’s FIVE birdie round I felt I’d have enough experience in the new Kentwool KW Series Men’s Sport Socks to post my review. Obviously such great golf play was not a result of having great golf clubs, a great golf ball, or executing shots. It was all attributable to the socks. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
About the KW Men’s Sport Socks
Kentwool as one might deduce, makes wool socks. I’ve been wearing Kentwools for several years now. I will NOT wear cotton socks again after wearing Kentwools! The KW Men’s Sport Socks are a slight departure. They’re part wool and part bamboo. The great thing about bamboo is that it is probably one of the most eco-friendly and replenishable materials in the world. It grows seriously fast.
The bamboo allows the same performance and moisture wicking, but in a thinner and lighter sock.
Colors
This sock is currently available in two colors: black/blue (pictured) and natural grey.
Sizes
The KW Sport comes in medium, large, and extra-large sizes.
On The Course
The KW Sport is extremely comfortable. The last two rounds I’ve played with them the temperatures were 94 and 92 degrees. No sweat, literally. Feet dry and comfy.
Conclusion
$20.95 is not cheap for a pair of socks. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for.” This show is well worth the price of admission. Great performance, moisture reduction, comfort. Fabulous.
These would make a great Father’s Day golf gift! Snag a pair of these for dad. If I’m your dad (or even if you want me to be), snag me another pair!
You won’t believe what I got from BlackSocks.com. Take a guess. Okay I’ll tell you. Black socks! Can you believe there’s a web site dedicated to black socks? Actually they have other items too like underwear and shirts. If the underwear is black would they be called “tighty blackies?”
Since Gary Player and I have the same wardrobe consultant
Half of my golf apparel is black. That way it matches the other half. My black socks go right along with my black shoes, black shirts and black shorts. I wonder if Mr. Player’s socks are made in Morocco like mine though.
BlackSocks.com’s Shorty Socks
The “Shorty” model of black socks is super comfortable. They’re made from 87% cotton fibers and are enriched with 1% Elasthan and 12% Polyamid. I actually have no idea what Elasthan and Polyamid are, but the socks are stretchy, smoooooth and very comfortable. They also breathe quite well.
Your Porsche and your socks have a spoiler
Ever have your socks slip into your shoe in the back? This is extremely irritating. The Shorty sock has a thicker area above the heel called a spoiler. The spoiler insures that the sock won’t slip down into the shoe.
The only disadvantage to the spoiler, other than increased aerodynamics, is getting debris inside the back of the sock. If you’re like me and have to hunt through the desert and dry brush for errant shots some debris will end up in there. That problem is easily resolved though. Hit better golf shots.
I’d be curious to see if BlackSocks.com’s underwear has a spoiler and how that is implemented…
