It was a bit of an accident that I got to this review at all. I’ve I had a box of Bridgestone Tour B330-S golf balls sitting in my garage for some time. I hadn’t intended to try them any time soon based on my experience with the previous models. They were simply too hard feeling. During a recent round I was struggling a bit and had lost a few balls. When looking for for one of the lost balls, I found a brand new B330-S, the 2012 model with the dual dimple pattern. I threw the ball into play on the next tee, the 15th hole. 15 is a very tough 440 yard par-4 which is uphill. I knocked that B330-S inside the 150 marker, the longest drive I’d hit on that hole all year. I was hitting a wedge into a green I normally hit 5-7 iron. At that point, the ball had my complete attention. I’ve played the B330-S now for the last roughly eight rounds with very good results.
Bridgestone Golf Tour B330-S Overview
The Tour B330-S is Bridgestone’s higher spin “tour” ball. “Tour” meaning what most tour players would use. Tour balls are typically higher compression and higher spin. That higher compression is one of the reasons I’d avoided trying the ball. That avoidance was clearly a mistake on my part, as I’m able to compress the ball just fine despite not having the swing speed of someone like Matt Kuchar or Fred Couples. (more…)
This product review is going to be a little different than my standard format. I’m teaming up with a local pro and buddy, who will remain anonymous. This is to protect his relationship with his equipment sponsor, who does not happen to be Bridgestone Golf. In fact, he puts his other driver’s cover on the 445 just in case. Why do I need to include him? Because I only had the opportunity to hit the J40 445 driver three times. After my friend the pro hit it on the range, he took it from me and refused to give it back. I’m not kidding. He won’t let me have the club back, despite how badly I’d like to try it more and see if it could earn a starting position in my club lineup. My J40 3+ fairway found an instant starting position and if the driver is close to as good, it would too.
About The J40 445
What does the 445 mean in the name? That’s how many CC’s or cubic centimeters the head is. 99.9% of the drivers out there right now are at the max allowed cubic centimeters which is 460. Be reducing the size a bit, Bridgestone has increased the stability of the club and reduced the aerodynamics.
The club is made from 6-4 titanium with the weight moved to the perimeter. There is also a stainless steel weight in the heel. This helps with accuracy and forgiveness, and gives the club a low center of gravity for a mid to high launch angle. The club also produces less spin, once again helping in the accuracy department.

J40 Dual Pocket Cavity Irons
Okay first things first. I’m going to mention the name “Bridgestone J40 Dual Pocket Cavity Irons” many times. So from this point on I’m going to Greg Normanize them to the abbreviation “J40DPC.”
The J40 is the newest version of the J38 Dual Pocket Cavity Irons that most recently Fred Couples won two events with on the Champions Tour. These are premium forged irons with a mid sized head and traditional look when standing over them. (more…)
I’ve been on a quest to find the holy grail of 3-woods for many years. That quest may be over.
J40 3+ Fairway Design
The new Bridgestone Golf J40 3+ Fairway Wood is a “strong” 3-wood, at 14 degrees. Standard 3-woods are 15 degrees. So this one should, and does, hit the ball a bit farther than a regular 3-wood. I’m not getting any older younger and my swing speed isn’t increasing it seems, so the extra yards have come in handy.
The 190cc head is made of stainless steel with a very thin top or crown. The head is shallow in profile, meaning it is not very tall from bottom to top. The result is a longer width from heel to toe for added forgiveness.
The center of gravity of this club (CG) promotes higher launch despite the lower loft, longer carry and as a result, longer distance. There’s a cool looking weight near the heel which helps optimize the CG of the club as well, promoting low spin and helping accuracy. The weight, to my knowledge, is not removable or adjustable.
