I’m stoked to let you know I’ll be reviewing TWO hats from Wallaroo Hat Company, the Shelton and the Jasper, both below.

Wallaroo Jasper Hat

Wallaroo Shelton Hat

Wallaroo Shelton Hat

These hats will be very heavily used by me this year as I know I’ve been letting my face and neck get pounded by the sun for years and I need better protection.

The Shelton has a neck flap which will come in handy not only golfing, but hiking, camping, fishing, and doing all sorts of other outdoor activities.

Winter is still in full force here, but the review stockpile keeps growing.  I’ll bust out my reviews as soon as time, and the weather allow.  Stay tuned.

My February 2018 WITB

I made the mistake of looking at Twitter on a Sunday evening. Then I had an acid flashback, well, more specifically a WITB flashback.  I forgot that on Sunday evenings during the PGA Tour season (oh, that never ends) endless “journalists” post their “what’s in the bag” posts. What is this you ask? The winner that week on tour’s clubs are suddenly interesting, since he won. Who cares that he shot two rounds in the 80’s last week and missed the cut!  This week it’s hot stuff.  For more about my opinions on what’s in the bag, check out my post, The Truth About What’s In the Bag Photos.

Who cares what’s in Tiger’s bag? More importantly whats in Tony Korologos’s bag?  I get a lot of requests from readers, okay one, to find out what is in my bag. I do not wish to disappoint, so here’s what I’m gaming right now.

I’ve got two sets of skis.  The ones on the left are Rossignol Sky 7HD’s, 180 length with 98 under foot.  Good all around skis for varying terrain.  The skis on the right are Blizzard Zero G. Those are 185’s. They’re a little wider at 108 under foot, with a more straight shape.  Those are the powder skis.  My poles are very special; Scott poles with one extra basket.  One of a kind. Two of one of a kind I suppose.  Top off the recipe with some Rossignol ski boots and Oakley goggles.

We’ve been getting hammered with snow, finally, so this is what my field of choice looks like at the moment:

I’m excited for spring, when golf season starts back up here. But winter is here now and I’m content to carve up Alta Ski Area until the courses are open.

Bonehead of the Week – One Golf Club Can Knock Off 18 Shots Per Round!

Written by: Tony Korologos | Saturday, February 24th, 2018
Categories: Boneheads

This is incredible! Imagine a golf club that knocks a shot off of EVERY hole!  EVERY HOLE! I just found one on an advertisement

All this for only $99?  That’s a steal. I figure I play around 1500 holes per year.  That’s 1500 shots knocked off!

“The C3i is such an easy club to hit to the green in all situations.” ~testimonial

The club is “easy to hit to the green in all situations.”  ALL SITUATIONS!  That would include some of the following:

  • Ball behind tree
  • Ball embedded in bunker
  • Ball in lake
  • Ball in river
  • Ball in bird’s nest 212 feet above the ground
  • Lost ball
  • Ball out of bounds
  • Ball in 4th stall of ladies restroom in the clubhouse
  • Ball on tee, on 678 yard par-5
  • Ball stolen by eagle who flies it 6 miles from the course
  • Ball lodged in a glacier in Antarctica
  • Ball on Mars
  • Ball on Jupiter
  • Ball sitting on asteroid traveling from the Milky Way to another galaxy

I could go on, but why should I? I’m wasting my time. I should pony up that $99 RIGHT NOW.  I have to run. Gotta make a purchase.

Hooked on Golf Blog Wins Another Award

I’m so honored, humbled, and grateful. My golf blogging career has reached its peak. The top. The pinnacle. The best of the best. Top dog. Top o’ the heap. Crème de la crème. Pick of the litter. Upper crust. Upper class. Beau monde. High society. The elite.

This blog has been selected as “one of the Top 30 Women’s Golf Blogs on the web.”  I’m sure glad the award specified “on the web” too, because it would be weird to win “Top 30 Women’s Golf Blogs on the floor of the ocean,” or something like that.

It’s fantastic for the “Hooked on Golf Team” to be recognized for its hard work and thrilling to know that the HOG “contribution to this world” has not gone unnoticed.

Of course the most awarded golf blog in the history of awarded golf blogs is “honored to display the award badge.” I hope they don’t mind and understand that I didn’t post the html code linking back to their site though. I’m sure the award and the “code to display the badge proudly” isn’t designed to simply generate link backs and search engine optimization for the awarding site.  It’s just that my humbled fingers got tired from typing about this honor.

Review: Coast Apparel French Terry Crew Neck Sweater

This one has been a nice review to work on.  Though it has been a moderately mild winter in terms of snow here, it has still been plenty cold. I’ve been enjoying my new Coast Apparel French Terry Crew Neck Sweater.

Details

This is a cotton blend sweater, 55% cotton and 45% polyester.  Thanks to the poly portion it keeps its shape, is easy care, doesn’t wrinkle easily, and doesn’t shrink.

The cuff and collar are rib knitted with spandex, which helps them flex and keep their shape.

The chest features an embroidered crab logo.

The sleeves are raglan style. They continue in one piece up to the neck without a shoulder seam.

On The Course – On The Town

I’ve only logged three golf rounds this calendar year. It’s early.  I had this sweater in play in the last rough, walking on a very hilly course in 46 degree temperatures. It kept me so warm that a couple of times I had to take it off. I was generating a lot of heat walking. One reason to walk and not ride golf carts in cold temperatures.

During the golf swing the sweater stays comfortable and doesn’t stretch or pull, or resist my golf swing. That’s a big deal.

I really dig the looks and style of this sweater, and wear it regularly at the office as well as on the course. Below you can see it paired with the Coast Apparel Khaki Beach Pants (review coming soon).

The fit does run a bit small, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of getting one.

Conclusion

This is my first Coast Apparel review of hopefully many to come in the future. I love the quality, style and comfort.

Golf sweaters can run up to several hundred dollars.  The French Terry Crew Neck Sweater, at a mere $39, is a tap-in birdie.

Update: I mentioned that winter has been mild… but in the course of the day today we just got hammered with about 10 inches of snow. Glad I have this sweater to keep warm while waiting for the snow to melt.
