I was doing my daily rounds on all the golf blogs (as many as I could at least) and found out via The Undaunted Duffer that it’s St. Andrews day…
John Daly withdrew from a silly season tourney, the Bard Capital Challenge due to a broken hand.
He broke his hand 400 miles down the road from my place in Mesquite, Nevada while playing at the Duff Challenge.
I hope that’s how it happened.
There is a new drink out there geared toward helping golfers. Launched in April of 2005 by my new pal Jon Mason, Swing Juice is the premium energy drink for golfers.
Swing Juice is an energy drink “designed to increase concentration and sharpen focus, giving you the mental edge needed to improve your game.” Sounds good. How do you do that?
Ingredients
Swing Juice Energy Drink contains a blend of ingredients that have been proven to increase focus, concentration, stamina and energy:
Gingko Biloba- helps to sharpen Focus and maintain Concentration.
Ginseng- has been shown to reduce the effects of stress, improve performance
and boost energy levels.
After watching The Big Break IV tonight I saw a promo for the “Natalie Gulbis Show.” I thought what the hell, let’s watch it and see what all the fuss is about.
This show is one hour of a camera following Natalie around. She goes to the spa, she gets interviewed on a TV show, she plays some golf. Fine.
The most entertaining part of the episode without a doubt was a quote from Big Break III winner Daniel Aimee (remember the Barbie doll golfer?) during a practice round with Natalie. She was reaching into her shirt for something that fell in there and said “my implants are going to pop.” Classic.
…Ok, so I’ve seen Natalie play golf. She can certainly hit a golf ball. Turned pro in 2002, no wins. I’ve seen her swimsuit calendars, and for an LPGA player she is alright looking. She’s not Sports Illustrated Swimsuit caliber by any means though. And now I’ve watched a so-so at best reality TV show about her. One is enough for sure.
Am I the only one wondering what all the fuss is about?
I’ve been watching the Big Break IV all “season” but have yet to do any posts about it until now. It’s not that tonight’s episode was something amazing or anything. It is just coming down to the wire and getting more interesting.
Tonight they had to get the European team of 3 down to two, so the Americans got to sit out for a 2nd week in a row. The concept is to have a final 4 consisting of 2 Americans and 2 Europeans.
The last half hour of this episode pitted Guy against Mary in 3 holes of stroke play. Frankly I was surprised Marty lasted as long as he did. His swing had a lot of extra movement in the body and hands…lots of things that can break down under pressure. But the main reason I thought he wouldn’t last was his mental strength. He lived and died with every shot. He s***ked several shots in previous episodes. And when he got mad he did his best to destroy the golf course. I bet the folks at Carnoustie were glad when he left so the didn’t need to send the grounds crew out for more repairs after he’d bury a club in the ground.
My pick at this point to win the whole thing is Guy. He’s steady. He has a great swing and he putts lights out. Plus there seems to be a bit of an intangible “Bernhard Langer” quality to him.
