Thinking of my best golf buddy Arnie on his birthday – RIP

Every year on this day I would call or send a message to my best golf buddy Arnie, wishing him a happy birthday. In my message I would say there are three great golfers who share this day as their birthday: Old Tom Morris, Phil Mickelson, and James (Arnie) Arnold.

At the time I didn’t know it, but last year’s birthday message would be the last one. Sadly, my buddy Arnie died from leukemia on July 25, 2020.

I miss my golf buddy and friend greatly. With Arnie gone, I have not had the desire to play golf.

Jim (Arnie) Arnold’s tree planting and reception/celebration of life

Unfortunately because of COVID, there was no funeral and no way to pay last respects. Now that we are moving past COVID, there’s a celebration of life for Arnie coming up in September. Anyone who wants to participate in some tree planting in his honor, let me know your email and I’ll get you on the RSVP list. Details are below:

Saturday, September 11
Tree Planting 1:30 in Sugarhouse Park
Reception to follow—probably around 3:00—at Canyon Rim Park, 3100 South Grace Street (2900 East) in Salt Lake
