99% of my golf blog posts are related to golf in some way or another. This is one of the 1% I suppose. Golfers like me do travel without their sticks sometimes, albeit not very often.
This past weekend I spent four extremely painful days in Washington DC. I pulled my back out badly, so bad that my lovely bride had to put my shoes on for me a couple of days in a row. Not too dignified. It is quite hard to walk miles from one monument to the next when each step feels like Hannibal Lectar is cutting out part of your spinal column to make a gourmet pate out of it, but I did it.

Washington DC is such a great place to visit for the history, art, and science. The museums and monuments are all FREE of charge. It was a thrill to enter the National Gallery of Art and see paintings by my two favorite painters, Picasso and Van Gogh.
This week we checked out the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Capitol, Air and Space Museum. Also went to Arlington National Cemetery. How humbling that was. A visit to the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and watching the changing of the guard was so wonderful.
