Welcome to the final in a long series of reviews from my recent HOG World Tour stop to northern Michigan and the golf mecca town of Gaylord. Today’s piece is a quick review covering Otsego Club & Resort, a resort which I stayed in for a couple of days during my trip, and which has one course I posted a review on yesterday, the very fun Otsego Tribute course.
Otseto Club & Resort Overview
Otsego Club & Resort is a facility which features many winter and summer activities including two golf courses, skiing and snowboarding, dining, swimming, bar, meetings, weddings and more.
Lodging
The resort has 117 guest rooms on site, in various buildings and condos, some dating back to the mid-1800’s. But don’t make a mistake about the rooms, they’re clean and modernized inside without losing that rustic flare.
Lodges at Otsego include the Tyrol Lodge, Hilltop Lodge, Blue Spruce Lodge, Loft Lodge, White Birch Lodge and the Chalets. Prices for the lodges and condos varies from $69 for the most basic lodge to $529 for a Chalet.
Tyrol Lodge
I stayed in the Tyrol Lodge, one of six lodges/condos available at Otsego. I didn’t research the history of this lodge, built in 1851, but it looks like an old church (image below).
My room at the Tyrol was cozy, yet not stuffy and old. It was very clean and modern on the inside. The room (below) featured two queens, a work desk (which I posted many photos and blogs from), free internet, TV and a sitting area.
The bathroom at the Tryol was a bit small and the shower more like a telephone booth. Starting up the shower was mildly irritating and funny at the same time. I had to point the shower head sideways to prevent it from shooting out into the bathroom when turning it on. That being said, the bathroom was adequate and more importantly clean.
Between the main room and the bathroom was a small hall where the closet and small bar were located.
Conclusion
I’m a big fan of the golf mecca that is Gaylord, Michigan. There are many great courses in the area to experience. I look forward to getting back there very soon.
Lodging at Otsego is rustic, yet clean comfy. Otsego is an excellent lodging choice for your next golf trip to northern Michigan.
