I’m working on the backbone of HOG today. If things get a little strange looking, just check back. I’m working on fixing some of the social networking and sharing issues, such as thumbnail photos sometimes appearing in shares and sometimes not.
This is test #1 to see if the thumbs actually are working now. I’m posting this with no embedded image, but a “featured” image for the post which shows in excerpts and on the site home page as a post thumbnail.
This past year or so I’ve set a HOG world record for golf sock reviews. Here comes another. I’m really digging the technology, heightened comfort and performance of modern golf socks.
Pro Compression Overview
What are compression socks anyway? I’ve been hearing more and more about them the last year or so. The answer: socks which are designed to fit tightly but for specific performance and therapeutic reasons.
Compression socks help delay muscular breakdown and fatigue from long rounds. The socks improve blood flow, stability and reduce recovery time.
I wonder if they have a brain compression sock?
Materials
Pro Compression socks are made from a proprietary blend of nylon and poly materials which are optimized for performance.
Made In The USA
These socks are not made in China. The quality of these USA made socks is completely under control, and results in consistency in construction and performance. All due respect to Chinese manufacturing, of course.
Sizes / Colors
There are numerous models offered by Pro Compression, both for golf and other activities. The primary golf line contains several different lengths from ankle to long socks in many varying colors. Best to visit their web site to see all the options, www.procompression.com.
On The Course
It took a few minutes for me to get used to the compression of these socks. The pressure is noticeable. Slipping my feet into my golf shoes has a nice feel with the Pro Compressions on. Playing many rounds of golf with these socks has been enjoyable. I’ve walked several hundred holes with absolutely no discomfort.
Conclusion
While I can’t necessarily claim that these socks have knocked any strokes off my scores I can attest to the comfort and performance. I like the fact that they seem to handle moisture well, much better than cotton. I’m about to throw out all my cotton socks…

This review may be a bit long. The MOTOACTV has a lot of features to cover and I have a lot of comments and critiques about the unit. First lets discuss what this device is and does.
What Is The MOTOACTV?
The MOTOACTV is made by Motorola. It is an electronic device which is about the same footprint as an iPod Nano, about 1.5 inches square and 1/2 and inch thick. The unit has a touch style interface and color screen.
MOTOACTV Features
This is the first in a several part series I’ll be doing on the new Nike Golf VR_S golf clubs. In the review queue right now are the VR_S Forged Irons, VR_S Driver, VR_S Fairway and today’s subject, the VR_S Hybrid. I’ve picked the VR_S Hybrid as the first because I’ve been hitting some fantastic shots with it. This club has turned into an instant go-to gamer for shots anywhere from 200-250 yards depending on conditions.
VR_S Hybrid Technology – Speed
Speed is a keyword for Nike with the VR_S line. VR_S is all about obtaining more of it.
Nike is touting their “NexCOR” technology, which is in the face of the club. What is that exactly? I didn’t know until I hit one, then I didn’t care. It worked. But since I’m doing this review I thought I’d see what NexCOR really is.
With NexCOR technology the face has a variable thickness. Unlike most clubs which make the face thinner toward the center, this face is thicker in the center and thinner on the outside. Very interesting. The result of this variable thickness is a larger and hotter sweet spot, which literally adjusts to shots which hit the face in different locations. The variable thickness produces hotter ball speed from all over the club face.
Along with the face technology is an aerodynamic design which helps the club head obtain more speed. Catch that last word? (more…)
