UST Mamiya GripsI’m putting new grips on my clubs today from UST Mamiya.  Testing soon.  I’m not the best club grip tech, as is evident by the fact that I not only burned my thumb so bad heating up and removing the old tape with a heat gun, but the fact that I then scraped the freshly formed blister off of my thumb. The best news is that I tee off in about 40 minutes.

All thumbs when it comes to putting grips on clubs...

Don’t try this at home. I’m a professional…

What did you do!? never got blisters putting on grips! Taking old tape off maybe?

    • Some real old tape wasn’t coming off so I heated it up with a heat gun. That I think gave me the blister, which I didn’t even know I had. Then I was using the thumbs to push the hot tape off the shaft and noticed some instant pain…

  2. No need for the heat gun. Works just fine with a hair dryer on medium to high heat setting.

Ouch! I think that is why it has always been worth it to me to pay someone to put new grips on my clubs.

    Ouch indeed!!

Agree, hair dryer normally does the job and far less dangerous!! 🙂
