I’m now on the way to the PGA Merchandise Show demo day at Orange County National Golf Club. This is golf’s largest demo day on a gigantic circular driving range.
Of course I’ll be testing lots of golf equipment and shooting a billion photos. Stay tuned.
I had a fun evening tonight for my first night in Orlando for the PGA Show at the Nike media event. Sitting on the front row I joined some of golf’s big independent entities like Into The Grain, Sandbox8 and the Hacker’s Paradise to watch Nike Golf president Cindy Davis address the media. The key concept for Nike golf is “speed.” Nike is going to conduct “speed trials” where players can be measured for speed (and thus distance) with their own clubs, the compared to recommended Nike clubs.
Nike brought in athletes Suzanne Petterson, Sterling Sharp and Ken Griffey Jr. to show how they’re able to increase their “speed” and thus their distance.
Greetings from gate C2, Salt Lake International airport. I’m waiting to board my flight to Minneapolis, where I’ll change planes to Orlando. Yes as a blogger who has to pay his own way I have to transfer and change planes to save a few bucks.
I’ll be traveling all day and arriving in Orlando around 5:15pm.
Interesting and odd things always happen so stay tuned.
Since the PGA Tour is in Torrey Pines this week for the Farmers Insurance Open, I was going to find some of my shots in the HOG Gallery of Torrey Pines. It was at that point that I realized I had yet to upload them. Dug back into my archive and found a few. They’re up now.
So click the image below or this link to the Hooked On Golf Blog Torry Pines Image Gallery.
I wasn’t there to golf, though I could have easily gotten on. Next time I’m bringing the clubs.
Below is the full leaderboard for this past weekend’s Humana Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope). Click the read more link if you don’t see the table. (more…)
