I wonder if I can use my golf blogger web geek cred to get Srixon to sign me to a deal like Graeme McDowell’s? He has moved from Callaway to Srixon in a deal worth worth about $3 million per year. I’d probably sign for a little less than that, since I didn’t win the US OPEN last year like Graeme did. How about we call it $30 bucks, 24 dozen golf balls and a hat?
That is quite an upgrade in the dough department over Graeme’s 2009 endorsements. Last year Golf Digest reported that he pulled in a total of $2 million. I’m sure Graeme isn’t done finding new sponsors either.

The sixth annual Christmas Classic golf tournament was originally scheduled for December 25, 2010. Due to favorable weather, the tournament was postponed and could not be played until the course was closed and covered with snow.
The snow flew last week and buried the course, and thus we were able to get the tournament completed today.
The tournament went well, and the tournament organizers did a fine job with snow removal, green preparation and best of all bringing some frosty beverages. When golfing in sub freezing temperatures (especially wearing shorts like me), a cold beer can really hit the spot. The staff at Augusta National would be envious and could learn a lot about tournament and course preparation from the Christmas Classic organizing committee.
My Performance
I haven’t swung a golf club since 12/21/10. Once I go past a week or two my swing starts to go bad fast. My granny, over-the-top chicken wing epileptic on crack seizure swing put me in a position where I almost defended my 2009 championship, but not quite. As each swing happened I got hack-like. Still, it was nice to hit any kind of shot whatsoever.
New Champ
We had three former Christmas Classic champions in the 2010 field, but despite that star power a new winner emerged. A new heavyweight rose above the snow capped 18th hole and shined upon River Oaks Golf Course. The most positive guy I know; a guy who could find the positive in hitting his thumb with a hammer; a guy who could find positive in a three putt, came through. Dan delivered in the clutch and delivered a knock out golf shot which ended up about six feet from from the snowy double pin. Winner winner chicken dinner.
2010 Christmas Classic Photo Gallery
I’ve uploaded about 60 images to the HOG 2010 Christmas Classic Photo Gallery for you to enjoy.
Christmas Classic Video
I put together a little video of today’s tournament and posted it to the HOG/TGS YouTube channel. YouTube videos slow down my home page, so I put them on the 2nd page of articles to speed up load times. If you don’t see a video below, click the read more link.
2010 Annual Christmas Classic golf tournament has been rescheduled and will take place on the 18th hole at River Oaks at 2:00pm TODAY!
I’ve got my snow boots on and I’ll be happy to defend my championship today. I hope to become the first player to successfully defend a Christmas Classic Championship.
Pictures and video to follow.
