Some good news for the Tiger Woods camp hit today. Tiger was voted the athlete of the decade by Associated Press member newspaper editors. Lance Armstrong was a distant second.
With all that has transpired for the TW PR engine, this must feel like like chipping in from 25 yards for a double bogey or topping a turd with whipped cream and a cherry. But on the bright side at least there IS whipped cream and a cherry.
I’ve met a lot of neat friends through my site, The Golf Space. One is the owner, founder, creator, brains behind Weszty Golf. My pal John Wesztergom founded Weszty Golf back in 2005 and has been passionately designing and building clubs since. Weszty’s mission is to make the game more enjoyable for players of all skill levels. Today we’ll be talking about highly skilled players.
Weszy Golf Zt-C Irons Overview
The Zt-C (I’ll call them the Zt’s from this point on) is an “Enhanced Blade” iron. For those who don’t know what a “blade” is, they’re typically smaller and harder to hit but allow more control of shot shapes and launch angles. Blades also have more “feedback” or feel of shots, translated to the player through the vibration and sound of the club. Higher level players, especially PGA Tour pros, often use blades. These clubs are definitely not for a 20 handicap player.
As mentioned before, Hooked On Golf Blog has teamed up with Annika Sorenstam Perfume for a comment contest. The best comment for this month wins a bottle of Annika’s new perfume. We have our first strong candidate, “ISBPD.” Here’s his brilliant comment about this post:
Fade in to Apple iphone commercial:
“Want to know which corporation is dropping TW this week? There’s an app for that.”
“Want to find out who is claiming to have had sex with TW today? There’s an app for that.”
Fade to black.
What a difference 10 days makes. Quotes from an interview in New Zealand on November 17, 2009:
Media member: “family first and golf second … always been that way?”
Tiger’s Woods: “Always. Always.”
If I hear one more scandalous Tiger Woods nugget I think I might just take a break from blogging and go on vacation for an “indefinite” period of time.
The latest nugget is that a doctor from Canada (what’s that all aboot?) who has treated Tiger is now under investigation by the FBI for providing athletes with performance enhancing drugs. This guy is also under investigation in Canada (what’s that all aboot?) for smuggling, advertising and selling unapproved drugs and criminal conspiracy.
Just plain bad PR
Though no allegations or implications involve Tiger at this point, it just adds to the ever growing mountain of bad PR for Tiger, Inc.
Fake N Bake
I need to go fix another cup of coffee so I’ll reserve my comments on the Fake N Bake until some other time….
