Winn G8 Grips Last Forever

Back on February 9th I wrote this post about my new Winn G8 Grips…. February 9th! Holy cow I can’t believe I’ve had these G8’s on my clubs for nearly 9 months. These Winn grips have lasted as estimated 75 rounds of golf. If you are looking for grips that will last a long time, the G8’s are the ticket. I usually get W5’s which last only a month or two before I wear them down to the white tape but the G8’s hardly show any wear visually.

Now that the cold air of the approaching Winter has arrived and the temps are in the 50’s, my G8’s have gotten very hard and slippery. I don’t know if it’s simply the cold weather or the fact that they’ve finally lost their tackiness and ability to absorb the shock. Perhaps it’s a bit of both.

I do prefer grips that are slightly softer than the G8’s but they did absorb the shock enough for my golfer’s elbow.

Now that the cold air is here I’m switching back to softer grips to help absorb the shock of those off center, cold long iron shots.

Yeah it would have been more but around February here there’s snow on the ground…
