Media feeding frenzy
Wow the golf media has in some kind of feeding frenzy following this past U.S. Open, already comparing Rory McIlroy to Tiger Woods. “The next Tiger” talk is already clogging up the golf scribes’ so-called blogs and twitter feeds. Please people. Calm it down. Rory McIlroy is not Tiger and I don’t want him to be. These are two entirely different players from different backgrounds with entirely different swings and mental dispositions. Two different animals which should not be compared unless you are talking about current record. I’m not saying one is better than the other or anything like that, it is just way too early for this discussion. I know you media folks won’t, but I’ll still ask you to wait a few years before you anoint the “next Tiger Woods.”
Rory on pace to break Jack Nicklaus’ major record? Really?
Continuing on with the premature golf media ejaculation is the “Rory is on pace to break Jack Nicklaus’ major record” stuff! It is one major win. Yes it is a big one which happened a handful of days earlier than Jack’s first, but it is not time for that kind of talk. Wait about 10-15 years.
Jason Day to set new major championship runner-up record at 43
The golf media loves to extrapolate the future from the past, just like they’d already anointed Tiger as winning more majors than Jack. Oops. Let it play out, and comment about that. If they use this extrapolation to analyze Jason Day, he’ll have 43 second place finishes in major championships by the time he turns 35.

First legitimate opinion I have read about Rory. I agree. He is not Tiger Woods. Remember Sergio? He was a young stud from Spain, the next Tiger. Then of course there was a young tiger named Ty.
