Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there. I hope your husbands or kids let you go out and golf today… 🙂
Tribute to my Mother
I had the pleasure of playing many rounds of golf with my Mom before she lost her battle with lung cancer in 2003. I still remember her waggle and her very mellow persona on the golf course. She never got too mad or too excited over golf shots or scores. Unfortunately I didn’t seem to inherit that, but I’m working on it. She couldn’t hit it far but she hit it straight. I still have her golf clubs, hoping maybe one of my daughters or my lovely bride will someday use them.
My mom was a great lady, well respected and loved around here by everyone who knew her. She was a hell of a cook and a fantastic singer. She was such a great influence on me in many ways. She influenced me very much with my music career, which kept food on my table for close to 25 years.
Perhaps the best thing about my mom was her no-nonsense attitude. If you were full of it, she’d tell you and she wouldn’t sugar coat it. She saw things in crystal clear black and white and wasn’t afraid to let anyone know her opinion. If you didn’t agree with her, that was your problem, not hers.
Here’s to you Mom. Tip of the hat, tipping back a glass. You are still a great influence in my life and the lives of those you touched.
Happy Mother’s Day.
