New this year at one of my three home courses are some bunker rakes with rounded handles. See image below:
I can think of several ways this handle is better for golfers or the course:
1. The handle doesn’t leave six foot long imprint in the sand, keeps bunker more pure
2. The handle is easier to grab when accessing the rake
3. The handle won’t stop a golf ball from rolling. Ball will roll under it.
I am a firm believer that rakes don’t belong in the bunkers in the first place! Some say “if they see it, they will use it”. Hogwash! How many bunkers do you come across that either need raking or have been raked poorly? Don’t get me started on this…this has been a peev of mine for ages. Leave the course in better condition than how you found it!
Ever see those hidden rake “silos”?
