Today I golfed! First time since December 28th. Golf in February around these parts is definitely a good thing and any year I can golf in Feb here is a bonus.
That fact in itself is nice, but the main reason I’m so happy about golfing today is that I’ve finally recovered from my injury. I’d been in quite a bit of pain through January from torn cartilage in my chest.
I played a full 18 holes, knocked the crap out of my G2, hit bad irons and made some clutch putts to win the big money in the group… OK it was just $11.00. I was rusty as I expected to be, but thrilled to actually play.
Score? I gotta know if I’ll be playing right or left handed. 😉
Considering my conservative swinging, not touching a club for 6 weeks and being very rusty not bad. 81. +5 on the front with 2 balls in the drink on 8. 1 ball in the drink going for the green on 15. Short game and irons need work. Putted well. No three putts and some one putts.
Not bad. We’re all a bit rusty right now.
I played a junior tournament there and a kid hit 8 balls into the water on #8, so it could’ve been worse.
Consider the conditions too. We were the first group out so the greens were all frozen until we got to about #6. The traps were frozen too. #2 was impossible to keep a ball on it. It was like trying to stop a top flite on a table top. There was pretty much no wind though.
All my iron shots were on the toe and losing distance which was the cause of all 3 water balls.
