I just got a great email from HOG reader Mike Fazio. I doubt he’s related to Tom Fazio, but if he is… we need to talk. Mike is a reader who’s friend just aced a hole. I send my congratulations to Thomas Griesau for doing something only one in 35,000 golfers does. Here’s Mike’s email:
“Hi Tony,
My name is Mike Fazio and I’ve been reading HOG for quite a few years now. Always great stuff, entertaining, and informative – so Thanks for that!
Anyway, in our golf league on Wednesday night, my good friend Thomas Griesau recorded his first hole in 1 on the 188 Par 3 2nd at Frear Park, Troy NY. He used a driver, hit the ground before the ball sending a low screamer into the hill boarding the green on the left side, from which it kicked off and proceeded to run directly towards the hole. I was on the tee box completely dumbfounded as I watched this ball disappear into the hole. It was the first time I had ever seen one in person.”
There are numerous ways I can make fun of Thomas:
1. Hitting a driver on a par-3? Does your husband play?
2. In the quote by Mike above, this par-3 is 188 yards. So, um, Thomas hits his driver 188 yards? That’s a 6-iron for me.
3. Thomas needs some serious help in the apparel department. Those shorts must go. While you’re at it, tuck in your shirt!
