This isn’t your normal HOG DVR alert. The PGA Championship is this week. This is “Glory’s Last Shot” and our last chance at watching major championship golf for 2012, even though we have the FedEx Cup playoffs and Ryder Cup to enjoy later.
DirecTV has made arrangements with TNT and CBS Sports to provide their “expanded” live coverage of the PGA Championship. The main channel channel is 701. This expanded coverage is accessed by hitting the red button on the remote. After that magic button is pushed, a main window pops up with info and available feeds. From there one can select the main TV feed (channel 702), the marquee group (channel 703), featured hole (channel 704) and players in depth (channel 705). There’s also a leaderboard on the main expanded coverage page.
This is very slick and makes me glad I have DirecTV. That said I’m not getting paid by DirecTV and they didn’t ask me to mention any of this. I’m actually PO’d that I will not be able to get the Pac-12 football coverage on DirecTV (unless something has changed recently). So as happy I am about the extended golf coverage, I’m not happy I can’t watch my Utah Utes. But I digress. Back to golf.
