I’ve automated this post so that I will publish in the event that I can’t get connected to the golf interwebs. Today is a HOG World Tour travel day. Tough duty, airports and airplanes all day.
Why the long trip to Puerto Rico besides the calm beaches, warm weather, palm trees, rum and of course the little frog Coquí? I’m in town for the grand re-opening of the Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed East Course at the Dorado Beach Resort & Club.
The course has been renovated by the junior version of RTJ, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. What work has he done to the course? I’m about to find out. Here’s their version:
“…original panoramic site lines of the Atlantic Ocean have been restored on 15 of 18 holes through an aggressive tree management program. Native Puerto Rican sand harvested from surrounding beaches highlights the newly renovated and contoured bunker complexes….A course layout that now stretches over 7200 yards, is as formidable from the championship tees as it is forgiving from the forward tee.”
The East Course, by the way, is one of FOUR courses at the resort.
A HOG In The Park
Attending the grand re-opening, playing the course and talking to the RTJ2 design team is enough to make any golf blogger’s head explode but that’s not all. I’ll be joining forces with my long time buddy and interweb golf writer Jay Flemma from the acclaimed golf blog A Walk In The Park and Cybergolf. Jay and I will once again be terrorizing blogging from a world class golf destination as we have many times before. This quote from Jay below sums it up well:
So get psyched, the most badass double-team in sports writing is back to beguile and bedevil, bewitch and bemuse, way more than Beyonce and Beiber. I’ll take my ugly shirt and lure you in like a bullfighter, Tony will HOG-tie you, and we’ll all share pina coladas with Bruce Charlton, Jones, Simon Landon and the rest of the crew.
So for next weekend, I’m rock, Tony’s roll, and you get to live vicariously. So when you’re done cleaning up the leaves, putting out the Halloween candy, and sewing the kids’ costumes (I hear Hobbits are in this year) tune in for the fun here and at Hooked on Golf Blog. We’re back and we’re on tour once again! And I promise, next pic, I’ll be the one wearing black:)
Ways To Tune In
Of course, I’ll be posting photos and whatever possible here on HOG during this HOG World Tour stop. For more up to date images and live commentary go golf social at my Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/TheGolfSpace and Facebook http://www.facebook.com/HookedOnGolfBlog pages.
I’ll be posting photos as I can to the new HOG Dorado Beach Image Gallery. Check there often starting tonight (Thursday) and through the next several days.
