She should talk to Ian Woosnam, he might pick her over Thomas Bjorn. hahaha. That was mean, I know. Seriously, I wrote on my blog that the Ryder Cup should stay men only and I wholeheartedly believe that. It isn’t a matter of a ‘glass ceiling’, it’s a matter of tradition. As for Michelle Wie specifically, I think as long as the media’s there feeding her these questions and leading her into these topics, she’s going to say things like this, not realizing how much it could impact her image and her career.
Miranda: It would be great to have women on the Ryder Cup team, just as long as they can play. But it’ll never happen. I think Wie has a bad dose of “phenom syndrome,” and it’s going to be a bit sad watching her figure out she can’t play with the men. Heck, she can’t even play with the women. I do think she’ll eventually win an LPGA tournament, but not until she plays that tour regularly.
Until Wie can win on a regular basis on the LPGA tour, all speculation related to the Ryder Cup is purely marketing hype – that being increased sales for whomever is publishing these articles.
IMHO Wie must learn to win at any level very soon or risk becoming the next Anna K.
