The last time I set foot on the grounds at Black Mesa Golf Club in New Mexico was back in 2009, but if feels like it has been 435,034 years. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t wish I was golfing at this timeless masterpiece. When my lovely bride who doesn’t even know how to hold a golf club suggested that Black Mesa is where we should go for Labor Day weekend, I knew I’d found the lady of my dreams.
So today we start the 560 mile journey to my personal golf mecca. We will drive about half way today to somewhere around Moab, Utah, then the other half tomorrow morning. I anticipate teeing off in the mid afternoon tomorrow, finishing with fantastic lighting in the late afternoon/evening.
I’m very excited to visit not only the fantastic Baxter Spann designed course, but see my very good friends at the Mesa: Tom Velarde the head pro, principal Eddie Peck, assistant pro Heath Wade and of course the super Pat Brockwell. These guys are the BEST and I don’t say that about any course I visit.
