I thought this was a joke but it’s real!

Michelle Wie The Making Of A ChampionI guess I’m not done Michelle Wie bashing for the day. Gotta get my fill in before Christmas I suppose..

Browsing some golf forums I saw the title “Michelle Wie The Making Of A Champion” and I had to dig into the thread. I saw this image and thought someone had photoshopped a phony book cover and was making a joke about this book. So I Googled it and I was just about falling out of my chair when I found that this book was on sale at Amazon.com.

Here’s a quote from the book description: “This biography will be a great read for anyone interested in the life of their favorite role model—and for readers everywhere looking for the full story behind a legend in the making.”

Laugh

Now, now, Tony. You haven’t read the book. Laugh all you want at the title, but she is technically a champion. Hell, even *I* am a champion. It’s a biography so it probably tells the story of how she got to be this marketing phenom with potential of being a tour champion… someday?

I know you like Wie bashing, but Mario bashing? Clearly you don’t read the plethora of golf blogs at travelgolf or worldgolf or you’d have known about this book a long time ago. Maybe if you’re lucky the Wie battlers didn’t get their fill discussing this topic over there.

  2. You’re right. I haven’t read the book. And yes even *I* am a champion too and that’s part of the point. A Tiger biography came out when he was around the same age too and I think that was too early as well. My Wie take is the same as it always has been. She needs to prove herself over time, win some LPGA tournaments and some majors and then all the accolades can stick.

And you’re right I only read a couple of blogs over there like Bill’s and Heather’s. Many of them either seem to love bashing each other or bashing courses in Las Vegas. It got old.

Golfchick has it right, Michelle Wie is a marketing phenom. Without a win though her star is going to fade fast. She is an extremely talented golfer but is 17 years old and a smothered one at that. BJ Wie is doing what he thinks is best for his daughter but….

  4. I have to say that I somewhat feel bad for Wie herself. It’s really her PR, father etc that have her career in their hands. They’re the ones who can guide her to success in business and in golf, or put her in more men’s tournaments to miss the cut and look the fool.
